Community artistic projects and involvement:

Employment in the field of Community Arts which often involved many groups and individuals. These included: young adults, Local Council members, the elderly, people of non-English speaking background (NESB), women’s groups, schools, health organisations, non-profit community organisations.


2000

Set/Costume Designer, ‘Turn the Soil’, Footscray Community Arts Centre.

Set design and costume consultation for theatre production about a story of a Vietnamese family growing and coping with life in Australia.


•Artist, Wetherill Park Reserve, Sydney.

Project involving local council and community to re-design Wetherill Park in Sydney’s west. This involved consultations with local women’s groups, Buddhist Temple facing the park and individuals.


1999

•Set/ Costume Designer, 'An Accidental Departure', FCARTS/ La Mamma Theatre.

Set design for a theatre production. Working with the director, playwright and actors.


•Exchange residency at Southampton City Gallery in England for 2 months.

A grant to work at Southampton City Gallery as a guest museum educator with schools groups and women’s groups.


1998

•Artist, ‘the USEUM’, Multimedia project, Melbourne.


•Community Artist, Fairfield City Council, Sydney .

Community multimedia arts project involving local Council and schools. The outcome – a public artwork to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the floods that damaged the area. The project aimed to inform and remember the event.


•Artist, Guppy and Associates, Sydney.

Employed as an artist to work with architects and designers to visualize plans for a community space that has been previously used as a dumping place for waste and garbage. Consultation with the community and Council liaison were integrated into the project.
