KUNST I NATUR BEINNALE, NEVELSFJORD, KJERRINGØY NORWAY, 15-23 July 2011

Set in idyllic surroundings of the Nevelsfjord on Kjerringøy with a population of 400, Kunst i Natur Beinnale brought together 16 artists from various parts of the world. During an intensive 10 days, each artist found their site/s and created a work that would make use of the materials from the surrounding environment. The artists came from varying disciplines, which also reflected in the outcome of their projects. More information see, www.kunstinatur.wordpress.com

TIDAL WADING, is a site-specific work which used the tidal movements of the Nevelsfjord to inter-play with the constructed driftwood assemblage on the beach. The low tide measured approximately, 20m from the edge of the wall of the side road. A series of ‘lines’ made of found driftwood were pinned down by branches, this began from low tide lineation up to the road. There was a total of 15 ‘lines’ which were transformed from static driftwood into floating, flowing ‘wave lines’ as the tide moved up onto the beach, daily. The simple construction from found materials would enable that the work will find its way back into nature in time.
